If you want to hide your own number when making a call on Talk+, simply dial 141 before the phone number. This prevents your number from showing on the recipient’s caller ID.
Why Hide Your Number? #
There are several reasons you might want to hide your number when calling:
- Keep your personal number private when calling someone new
- Call businesses without sharing your personal contact details
- Prevent your number appearing on call logs
- Make calls when you don’t want to be called back
How to Hide Your Number #
To hide your own number when making a call:
- Dial 141 before the full phone number
- Then dial the complete number including the area code
Example: To call 01482 247365 without showing your number, dial 14101482247365
The person you’re calling will see “Number Withheld” or “Private Number” instead of your phone number.
Hiding Your Number for All Calls
If you want to hide your own number when making every call, contact our Customer Service team on 01482 247365 (Option 3).
We can set your line to withhold your number permanently, so you don’t need to dial 141 each time.
If you have this enabled, you can dial 1470 before a number to show your number for individual calls.
Common Problems When Hiding Your Number #
My number still showed on caller ID
- Check you dialled 141 before the full number including area code
- Make sure there were no spaces or pauses when dialling
I want my number to show again
- Simply call normally without using 141
- If you’ve set permanent number withholding, dial 1470 before the number to show it
The person I called couldn’t see who was calling
- This is normal when you hide your number when making a call
- They’ll see “Number Withheld”, “Private Number”, or “Unknown”
Some Numbers Won’t Accept Hidden Calls
Be aware that some organizations (like emergency services, banks, and certain customer service lines) may not accept calls from withheld numbers for security reasons.
Helpful Tips #
- Using 141 only hides your number for that specific call
- You need to dial 141 each time you want to hide your number when calling
- Your number will still appear on your phone bill and call records
- The recipient won’t be able to call you back easily if your number is hidden
