From connecting more communities to achieving industry recognition, here’s a look back at some of the milestones at Quickline, highlighting what defined our year.
January: Expanding Horizons
We hit the ground running, bringing our services to even more communities across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. We also became the official sponsor of the Lincolnshire Women and Girls League, supporting grassroots sports and fostering local talent.
February: Pioneering Project Gigabit
We secured our first Project Gigabit contract, covering West Yorkshire and the York area, marking the start of our work on the government-funded programme enabling communities that would otherwise miss out on access to fast, reliable gigabit-capable broadband.
March: Strengthening Leadership & Connectivity
We welcomed our new Chief Technology Officer, Darryl Petch, who has been instrumental in driving innovation. We also connected the historic and ever popular tourist attraction Thorp Perrow Arboretum, further extending our reach into rural North Yorkshire.
April: Freezing Prices, Building Momentum
April brought another milestone with our second Project Gigabit contract, covering South Yorkshire. We also made a customer-first pledge by freezing our broadband prices until 2025.
May: First Gigabit Customer & Community Impact
We celebrated a significant achievement by connecting our first Project Gigabit customer in Escrick. May also saw us hosting the Brownlee Triathlon for schoolchildren in Lincolnshire and partnering with The Prince’s Trust to support young people.
June: Winning Big
We took home honours at the UK Fibre Awards, a testament to our industry-leading efforts. We also celebrated Volunteers’ Week by giving back to our communities with a wide range of initiatives and ventures supported by dozens of colleagues.
July: Expanding Our Gigabit Reach
Two more Project Gigabit contracts were awarded to us – these ones covering North Yorkshire as well as the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, further solidifying our role in connecting underserved regions and making us the second regional supplier to the government programme.
August: Backed by the NWF & Joining the 5% Club
With backing from the National Wealth Fund, we secured vital financial support for our mission. We also joined The 5% Club, committing to developing our apprentices and graduates.
September: Deals, Growth & Partnerships
We launched our 12-month half-price broadband offer, expanded our Leadership Team, and forged new partnerships, including with Suitworks, pledging support for those trying to get back into employment. Progress on Project Gigabit in West Yorkshire was celebrated with a visit from the Secretary of State for Telecommunications. We were also honoured at the WISPA awards and we connected the fantastic Stump Cross Caverns in North Yorkshire to our network.
October: Inspiring the Future
From an outdoor cinema event celebrating connectivity in South Yorkshire to partnerships with Tech She Can, STEM Learning, and Ahead Partnership, October was all about inspiring future generations to explore tech careers.
November: Giving Back & Black Friday
We took part in a beach clean initiative to support our efforts to enhance the environment and announced a new commercial partnership with Hull City. Plus, our Black Friday deals brought unbeatable value to our customers.
December: Ending the Year on a High
We capped off the year by winning prestigious INCA and ISPA awards. We welcomed our very first cohort of telecoms apprentices, launched our partnership with Run With It, and continued to make strides in our mission to transform connectivity.
Looking Ahead
2024 has been a phenomenal year, and none of this would have been possible without the hard work of our team, the trust of our customers, and the support of our communities and partners. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to build on this momentum and continue delivering innovative solutions that make a real difference.
