No Action Needed

You’re already using a digital phone service, so the changes to traditional landlines won’t affect your Quickline phone service.

I have Quickline broadband but still use a traditional landline

You May Need To Take Action

If your home phone still relies on an older landline connection, you may need to move to a digital phone service to keep using your landline number.

Find out how the changes affect you

Landline services across the UK are changing. If you’re affected, you’ll need to make sure you have a suitable alternative in place.

What’s changing?

The technology that has supported traditional UK landlines for decades is being retired and replaced with newer digital phone services that use an internet connection instead.

Most people won’t lose their phone number, but some customers may need to change how their home phone service is provided.

If you’re unsure whether you’re affected, tell us where you’re starting from and we’ll help you understand what, if anything, you need to do.

What should I do next?

If you already use a digital phone service

You don’t need to do anything.

If you still rely on a traditional landline

Contact your current provider to understand what changes are planned and whether any action is required.

If you use alarms, telecare or monitoring devices

Check with your equipment provider that your device will continue to work correctly.

Important information during emergencies

What happens during a power cut?

Digital phone services rely on electrical power and internet equipment.

If there’s a power cut, your home phone may not work unless you have a backup power solution.

It’s important to have an alternative way to contact emergency services, such as a charged mobile phone.

Do you use a telecare device or personal alarm?

Some personal alarms, healthcare monitoring devices and security systems may rely on traditional phone connections.

Before making any changes to your phone service, contact your equipment provider to confirm how your device will continue to operate.

One switch. Broadband and home phone sorted.

If your broadband and landline are currently with another provider, now could be a good time to get both ready for the future. Switch your broadband to Quickline and add Talk+ to move your home phone onto a digital service too.

You can usually keep your existing landline number while getting fast, reliable broadband and helpful support from Quickline.

Still in contract? Don’t let that stop you. We’ll reimburse eligible early termination fees when you switch to Quickline.

What about my landline number?

The technology is changing. Your number doesn’t have to.

For many people, their landline number has been part of the family for years. The good news is that when you move to Quickline Talk+, you can usually bring your existing landline number with you.

That means friends, family and contacts who already have your number can carry on calling you in the same way.

Same number. New way of staying connected.
