As part of our commitment to enhance the environments where we are also delivering fast and reliable broadband, the team of eight volunteers took to the sands to clean up the coastline and bagged an incredible 16 sacks of rubbish from North Bay in the resort.
Working in collaboration with North Yorkshire Council, Quickline colleagues swapped the office for the beach and gathered debris and litter from the shoreline. Among the waste removed was an abundance of nails and metal as well as wrappers, tissues and other unwanted items left behind or washed up.
Representatives from the local authority then took the waste away and disposed of it.
Quickline staff each receive two days every year to use for volunteering and this latest venture saw the group opting for an environmentally themed activity in North Yorkshire.

We are not just delivering broadband, we are helping people and places to thrive and one of the ways we are doing that is through a commitment to enhance the environments where we’re working.
“While we expected to find plastic and other litter on the beach, we were stunned by the sheer number of nails and sparklers scattered along the sand from bonfire night earlier in the week – all of which could be dangerous to wildlife as well as human visitors on the beach.”
