Digital Transcription for Lawyers in Tetney

That’s why we’re dedicated to helping professionals, like Digital Transcription for Lawyers in Tetney, in remote or hard-to-reach areas get access to fast, reliable broadband they need to succeed. We recently spoke with Annabel Hurdman, DTFL owner, who runs their transcription business from home, to hear their experience.

Tell us about your business, where you’re based and what you do.

My business is Digital Transcription for Lawyers based in Tetney. The business runs entirely in the cloud receiving digital voice files over the internet, either by email or other file delivery services. The team then transcribe the voice files turning the spoken word into the written word – again all performed in the cloud before returning completed work back to the law firm, judge or barrister by email.

How important is fast and reliable broadband to your business?

Without reliable broadband I would have no business. As to speed, naturally the speed not only helps me get the work done faster but also the completed work back to the client on a much quicker turnaround which in turn helps my clients respond to their clients on a timely basis.

What was your previous broadband experience like?

For the last 30+ years I have used the same national business and residential supplier for both broadband and telephone. The lack of speed often caused problems, especially when I moved the business to the cloud; software packages would “hang”, the transcription software would “hang” and often emails just got stuck in the outbox. I would often ask about fibre and was always told “not available where you are based”. The download and upload speeds in general were 18mbps and 2mbps respectively.

The service I was receiving from the national business and residential supplier began to get steadily worse when I moved to Tetney in 2017 and, in the end, in 2024 I had to find an alternative supplier for my sanity and for my business.

Why did you choose Quickline?

I noticed activity in the village and made enquiries and was told about Quickline. I did some investigations, reading reviews, etc. and made a tentative enquiry. To tell the truth, I was petrified of stepping into the unknown as I had never known any other broadband/telephone provider and an old saying kept springing to my mind “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t”.

I then received a follow-up call from my enquiry from Mike Sugden – if it had not been for his patience and handholding, I doubt I would have had the courage to move provider… I am so glad I did.

Tell us about the service you receive from Quickline.

From biting the bullet to the actual installation was all thanks to Mike Sugden, he kept me updated every step of the way.

Quickline turned up and put the cable to my property and left it all so tidy to the wall in readiness for the engineers.

Kieran and Connor the Quickline engineers arrived on the day that was planned, 17 July 2024. They explained what they were going to do, and they did just what they said they would do without any problems whatsoever. They were very polite, extremely good with the dogs and not leaving the gate open (3 greyhounds who can run faster than us!).

Mike Sugden also gave me details of a firm that would be able to assist with the digital phone line, so that was changed too.

I am now “national business supplier” free!

How has Quickline helped your business?

My team are all self-employed typists working from their own homes and they have noticed the response time they receive from me has increased as, more importantly, have my clients. I can now have multiple software packages open in the cloud, send and receive emails, search the internet all at the same time at speeds, on average, of 220mpbs download and 110mbps upload with no downtime. Stress levels are ZERO, clients are more than happy and my team are happy.

How important is Quickline to your business?

Broadband is essential for my business to operate but Quickline could offer me the speed, connectivity and customer service that I never had with my previous provider.
