It’s been their home for almost 25 years and lack of good connectivity has been an ongoing issue for them until earlier this year when Quickline’s full fibre broadband network was made available. They now enjoy faster, more reliable broadband.
“Back in 2012 I wrote to my MP to ask when we would be getting decent broadband here in Staxton. Other larger places were getting faster internet but it wasn’t going into the villages.
“We were on dial-up and our speeds were poor. Then about five years ago Open Reach put fibre to the cabinet in and we could get speeds of about 35Mb which was a big improvement. But we still struggled if more than one person was online or you needed to download something – bandwidth was a real problem.
“When Quickline arrived in the village last year and started to dig up the road and install their own fibre network I was really keen. We signed up for the Free Until You’re Free contract in March and we’re now getting the benefit of 400Mb which gives us great speed and is perfect for us.
“We have great dependability for my wife’s working and for our weekly family Zoom calls with the kids who no longer live at home – we get a quality call for a good hour with no dropping out.
“The biggest thing we want from our internet connection is peace of mind – knowing that it will work and be reliable.
“The move over to Quickline has been really successful. People can be a bit unsure about moving to a new supplier. My view is that you have nothing to lose. We have no regrets whatsoever and I am very happy to endorse Quickline.”
