Quickline accelerates rural broadband rollout with new Build Team

We’re creating a new infrastructure team as we accelerate our rollout of fast, reliable broadband.

Quickline New Build Team

Our new Build Team will be responsible for the building of fibre networks that connect rural communities to better broadband.

The roles in the 16-strong team are the latest jobs to be created since we moved into our new offices at Albion Mills in Willerby, East Yorkshire.

From installing track, cabling and splicing to making fibre connections live in local areas, the team will play an integral role in our mission to provide “broadband for the better” to communities which have been left behind in the drive to improve access to the Internet across the UK.

The new team will be on the ground across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, as we connect more homes and businesses.

Chris Akrill, our Head of Fibre Operations, said: “Having our own dedicated Build Team will give us even more capacity and flexibility to roll out our gigabit capable broadband network to even more rural communities.

“We’ve got an ambitious target to build our next-generation broadband network to over half a million homes and businesses by 2025. To do that, we need an effective and robust team.

“We’re looking for talented individuals to join us on our exciting journey. Please get in touch with us if you’re interested in any of the roles available.”

The Build Team will support our hybrid network rollout in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Once the infrastructure is in place, the project will be handed over to our Network Team to complete connections to homes and businesses.

Jobs available in our new Build Team include civil operatives, cablers and splicers. Supervisor and manager roles are also being sought. All the roles are permanent positions.

Wendy Hiley, our Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partner, said: “There are so many benefits to working for Quickline. People joining the Quickline family have the chance to make an instant impact and not just be a cog in a massive engine.

“We’re growing and evolving at pace and that means there’ll be opportunities for development and career progression regardless of the role you join the company in.

“We offer a range of incentives at Quickline. All our team members get their birthday off every year and, if you’re moving home or getting married, you’ll also get an extra day off. All team members are also given two days a year for charity and community work, and we offer a discounted healthcare programme.

“We would welcome applications from a variety of industries, including telecoms, utilities, rail, and construction sectors.

“Entry level roles are available and we would love to see some applications from those who have already completed apprenticeships in roles such as splicing or telecoms, for example.”
