Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6
Rockstar Games’ flagship series has been one of the most talked-about multiplayer games of the year – and it’s not even been released yet! Just the announcement of a two-minute trailer brought the gaming world to a virtual standstill, highlighting just how crazy the hype is surrounding the sixth instalment of Grand Theft Auto. What we do know is that the game is set to be the most immersive yet, with huge storytelling potential, enhanced graphics and expanded gameplay mechanics. The game is likely to be set in Miami – or Vice City as it’s known to gamers – and the location is likely to be a present-day Vice City. Beyond that, and a well-publicised leak, there aren’t many concrete GTA 6 facts, other than it’s the most anticipated game for years and it will sell millions of copies when it finally does go on sale – now said to be late 2025.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty is a hugely successful multiplayer game, with around 250 million global users, and has notched up sales of over 400 million copies. The next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise is set to take place during the Gulf War which saw the largest coalition of militaries since World War 2 take on Iraq and Saddam Hussein.
The first-person shooter game is set to be released towards the end of October 2024 and is rumoured to have been in development for several years – which should bode well for those who felt the last few Call of Duty games have been let down by rushed gameplay.
Ark 2
Vin Diesel loves a sequel, with 10 and counting in the Fast and Furious franchise. And he’s the star of Ark 2 as he suddenly awakes on a ‘primal world filled with dinosaurs,’ with humans and dinosaurs battling it out for supremacy. Dinosaurs and Vin Diesel – what’s not to love? Billed as a next-gen survival experience, Ark 2 is an online multiplayer sandbox, with a range of characters to choose from. The first survival game was a big hit and with the promise of Vin Diesel riding a T-Rex in Ark 2, we can easily see this being one of the biggest new multiplayer games for 2024 when it finally lands. Available on PC and Xbox.
South Park – Snow Day
There’s nothing better than the joy of overnight snow and discovering school is cancelled – snow day! But we’d imagine taking charge of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny in the new South Park Snow Day multiplayer game is going to come a pretty close second! The 3D co-op adventure sees you and three friends battle through snow-piled streets on a ‘quest to save the world and enjoy a day without school.’ Along the way, you’ll encounter a snow shovel catapult, a blizzard battle and all the dirty humour of South Park’s finest. Available on PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Suicide Squad – Kill The Justice League
This new multiplayer game from the team behind Batman: Arkham series lets you take control of the Suicide Squad as they battle Brainiac, an evil villain who’s using mind-control to power Justice League members like Superman. Take control of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang or King Shark in a world set five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Nights. The game was released in February 2024 and is available across PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
