Sustainability partnership kicks off with Climate Fresk workshop

Quickline has kicked off a new sustainability partnership with Speak Carbon by bringing colleagues and build partners together for a Climate Fresk workshop in York.

The event marked the beginning of a two-year collaboration aimed at building climate understanding and supporting practical action across businesses and communities in North Yorkshire.

Held in York, the interactive workshop saw participants explore the science behind climate change, the challenges facing the planet, and the role organisations can play in driving meaningful change. Climate Fresk is an internationally recognised, discussion-led workshop that breaks down complex climate issues through a hands-on, collaborative approach.

For Quickline, the session provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of sustainability while strengthening relationships with build partners around a shared commitment to responsible growth, recognising how small changes can have a lasting impact when adopted across organisations and supply chains.

Peter Watkins from Speak Carbon said: “Climate Fresk provides an accessible, evidence-based way to build a shared understanding of the climate system. Bringing this into rural broadband projects helps connect people’s everyday experiences with the bigger sustainability picture.”

Amelia Williamson, Social Values Manager at Quickline, added: “Through our partnership with Speak Carbon, we’re bringing the climate conversation closer to home, connecting global challenges to the places we live and work. By learning alongside our partners, we’re helping turn awareness into practical, achievable action.”

As part of the partnership, Speak Carbon will deliver a programme of Climate Fresk and Carbon Literacy workshops across North Yorkshire over the next two years, embedding climate awareness within local communities.

Quickline’s sustainability partnership work sits alongside its mission to connect rural communities across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire with fast, reliable broadband, ensuring network growth is delivered responsibly and with long-term environmental impact in mind.

Further workshops are planned as the partnership progresses.
