Keeping history alive with next-generation connectivity

Quickline has customers based in some deep rural locations, with sites that struggle with poor connectivity limiting their ability to operate as they would wish.

Keeping history alive with next-generation connectivity

The RAF Ingham Heritage Centre in Lincolnshire, home to the Polish Bomber Squadrons story, is one such example. They faced connectivity issues that hindered their digital outreach and modern visitor services and made it very difficult to preserve and share historical stories.

Discover how Quickline’s next-generation connectivity solution transformed this remote World War II airfield from a connectivity blackspot into a digitally enabled heritage destination, allowing them to honour the past while embracing the future through dependable internet access.

Neville Drury, Trustee at RAF Ingham Heritage Centre said: “We hope to tell the story of the squadrons that served here, the four Polish squadrons between 1942 and 1944. The story takes you from the early days when they fled from the invasion of Poland by the German army to how they progressed through Europe to become trained as part of the Polish bomber squadrons.

“This is a relatively remote site. From day one, we’ve had communication difficulties. Obviously, we want to tell the stories to the wider public using our website and our Facebook pages. And it’s really important that we have good internet connection.

“Before Quickline, the connection was very intermittent. We could go some days without a proper connection. Quickline gives us a better signal and enables us to use our facilities more effectively. The service we’ve had, the installation was particularly good. Everything that was put in, was neatly put in and so it’s been a very successful transition, and we will use it more and more as time goes by.

“I see a time when we’ll be able to have interactive materials for visitors when they’re here. So, you’ll walk around the museum and be able to hear the story rather than necessarily reading.

“So much now is card based rather than cash based. Quickline is very much a quantum step forward from the landline-based system that we had. As I see it, there’s really no limit to what it can do for us”
