When Tim Sharp isn’t busy travelling the world, he’s back home in rural North Yorkshire – editing, uploading, and connecting with his YouTube audience. As a globetrotting YouTuber with thousands of subscribers, Tim relies on fast broadband and a reliable connection to keep his channel running smoothly. “I have a YouTube channel, and I do travel videos mainly from fronts of buses or cars of long-distance travel. I also started doing videos in the garden because we’ve got a big overgrown garden and I’ve been cutting it back a lot over the years. We’re in a place called Langwith, and this is an old farmhouse. We live about a mile and a half from the nearest village. We’ve got fantastic views from here; we’re just in the middle of nowhere.
“We thought we’d never get fast broadband. My channel started about 2022. I like to watch videos when I’m cycle training and I’ve tended to watch things like videos from the fronts of trains or from the fronts of cars and I thought I should start doing these myself. I love travel and I like seeing different places in the world. I want to show people what they can do when we go on holidays. I’m videoing all the time. I always have done.
“When I get home, I put all the files together and bring them into the editing suite. Before Quickline, we had BT, and we were getting 13 megabits download and one megabit upload. I had to keep my videos short, and it still could take several hours to upload a 20-minute video. Then Quickline came along and offered fast broadband. We didn’t believe it would ever happen. We just thought it too good to be true.
“They just connected us up and that was it. Instantly we got the fantastic speeds, we’re getting over 900 megabits, both download and upload. I can now upload longer videos. I can use faster frameworks and that’s completely transformed my videos. Just everything works faster.
“Everything works faster. It just makes it completely different. It’s the freedom really to not have to worry about the file sizes anymore. I’ve got no restraints now. I can just do whatever I need to do”
