Fibre installation engineer Finn Richardson and our social values lead for the East Riding of Yorkshire, Ash Cane, visited Skipsea Primary School to deliver an interactive STEM workshop to pupils giving them a glimpse into the exciting opportunities available in the telecommunications industry.
The session was part of a week-long programme which saw a host of local businesses visit the school to inspire the next generation and showcase the diverse career paths available right on their doorstep.
For many of the children it was their first introduction to broadband engineering and the technology that keeps rural communities connected.
The workshop covered how the internet works, what engineers do day-to-day, and the importance of reliable connectivity in rural places like Skipsea – sparking plenty of questions from curious young minds.

Ash Cane said: “It was great to visit Skipsea Primary School and see how engaged the children were.
“Careers Week was the perfect opportunity to maximise the impact of the workshop; the enthusiasm and questions from the pupils showed how much they gained from the session.”
The visit forms part of Quickline’s wider commitment to supporting education and digital skills across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, helping to inspire the engineers, technicians and innovators of tomorrow.

From delivering digital skills training to adults facing barriers to getting online, to showing primary school children the workings of broadband technology, our work in the community goes beyond simply providing connectivity.
It’s about ensuring everyone – regardless of age or background – has the opportunity to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
