Students at a North Lincolnshire school have had their interest in engineering sparked thanks to interactive STEM workshop held by a team of Quickline colleagues.
The fibre engineers joined our social value team as part of our ongoing commitment to STEM education across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, delivering four sessions over two days to introduce pupils to the world of telecommunications and the career opportunities within it.
The workshops featured presentations and videos as well as hands-on activities that brought fibre technology to life in the classroom.
One of the highlights was a fibre splicing demonstration, where students watched the process before getting the chance to try their hand at it themselves. A Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) demonstration board challenged students with a timed activity, adding a fun and competitive element to the experience.
Pupils also had the opportunity to talk to our engineers, asking questions and gaining first-hand insights in their daily roles.
Our workshops were well-received by all, with students showing strong engagement and curiosity throughout.
Connor Moore, Quickline Socials Value Executive, said: “It was a pleasure to run the STEM workshop at Frederick Gough School. When people ask me what I enjoy most about my job, I have to say it is the chance to inspire the next generation of engineers.”
We’re thrilled with the enthusiasm shown by the Frederick Gough pupils and are looking forward to taking workshops to more schools in the future – inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.
