We recently visited Grange Interlink, a purpose-built community hub that provides community and business facilities in Bradford, West Yorkshire, to see first-hand how our funding through Leeds Community Foundation is helping families and young people build digital confidence to get online and get ahead.
Grange Interlink is using our funding to run digital literacy workshops for families and young people, as well as purchasing equipment to support the sessions.
The workshops are delivered in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, helping participants develop digital confidence they need to access online tools and services, as well as employment support.
What makes the programme particularly impactful is its accessibility – sessions are delivered in multiple languages, removing a significant barrier for many in the community.
Participants also benefit from a device loan scheme, with Grange Interlink lending equipment to the families and young people who attend, so they can continue building their skills beyond the workshops.
Building digital confidence for an online world
Connor Moore, Social Values Executive at Quickline, said: “It is always amazing to see how our workshops help others. Bringing our knowledge into the communities we serve to help others feel more confident online never gets old.
“The world is heavily online these days so skills like these are invaluable to old ages, and you wouldn’t believe how simple education can help people”
The activity is designed to build participants’ confidence, skills and knowledge of technology and digital services – skills that are increasingly essential for everyday life, from booking appointments and managing finances to searching for jobs and staying connected with others.
For many attending, the workshops represent a first step into the digital world, opening doors to opportunities that might otherwise feel out of reach. Connor added: “Our partnership with Leeds Community Foundation enables us to support grassroots organisations like Grange Interlink that understand the unique needs of their communities. By combining reliable connectivity with targeted digital skills support, we’re helping to ensure that no one in rural and underserved areas is left behind in an increasingly digital world.”
