Quickline recently visited Mindful Activities Yorkshire CIC, one of our valued ‘Moving on up’ Fund beneficiaries supported by the South Yorkshire Community Foundation. The purpose of the fund is to support young, disadvantaged individuals into employment.
The charitable purpose of the Fund is to support eligible community organisations by providing vital grant funding to community organisations that are addressing Employment and Education both of which are key social issues to support young people across South Yorkshire aged 14-30 years.
Quickline’s partnership with Mindful Activities will allow previously successful organisations to receive a top up to their original grants to continue their invaluable work with young people or a contribution to a brand-new activity still relative to the programme.
Our three-year funding partnership supports Mindful Activities CIC, designed to equip participants with essential skills for workplace success. The program combines group learning sessions focused on creating Future Mood Boards, covering critical topics such as transitioning from school to work, mindset development, planning and preparation, building confidence and communication skills, as well as interview techniques. Participants engage in goal-setting activities for the future and explore entrepreneurship as an alternative to traditional employment.
Individual coaching sessions provide personalised support in CV writing, understanding the importance of authentic personal branding and work experience, and preparing for interviews. This tailored approach ensures each participant receives guidance specific to their career aspirations and development needs, with continued support available throughout their transition journey.
The program’s cornerstone feature is hands-on work experience in real-time environments over a four-week period. Participants choose between working in a community café or an office workshop setting, gaining practical skills that directly translate to employment opportunities.
In the café environment, they receive training in food hygiene and barista skills while learning customer service excellence and café operations. The office workshop setting develops communication skills, telephone etiquette, and general administrative duties, with emphasis on workplace policies and health and safety procedures.
