They have been getting involved in an array of activities from serving meals and washing dishes to chatting with the visitors. Spring Café offers the elderly people of Hunmanby a two course meal along with companionship.
Our approach
Helping in any way we can, Quickline colleagues have been supporting the team of volunteers at Spring Café in Hunmanby serving meals to the elderly. We have also been taking time to make sure the people who attend have someone to talk to and a sense of companionship.
The Impact
The work carried out by Quickline colleagues has had a real impact on the residents of Hunmanby and beyond. It has given people a chance to talk to someone and some companionship in their day whilst also serving a tasty two course meal cooked by Joy and her team of volunteers.
Mark Seward, Director of FWA Operations and Strategic Programmes, said: “The volunteers gave everyone such a warm welcome, and the teamwork to prepare, cook, serve and clean up was like a well-tuned military operation. Fantastic!”
Connor Moore, Social Value Executive, added: “My time at Spring Café made me realise how wonderful the humanity in people is. A massive shout out to Joy and the team who made me so welcome from day one.”
