Filey seafront was a hive of connectivity last week as Quickline brought its Broadband on the Beach event to the East Coast.
The community pop-up proved a hit with holidaymakers and local residents, as the Quickline team swapped fibre cables for frisbees, sunglasses and seaside rock – all part of a day designed to connect with the community in a fun and informal way.
The star attraction was the Quickline grabber machine, which drew queues of players all hoping to win summer goodies and the top prize of a £250 Amazon voucher. After plenty of near misses, a family from Otley, West Yorkshire, eventually claimed the grand prize to the cheers of onlookers.
The event also gave the Quickline team the chance to chat with people about broadband services in the area and answer questions about connectivity in rural and coastal communities. With Filey basking in the late summer sunshine, the relaxed beach setting was the perfect backdrop for conversations about how reliable broadband can make a difference to people’s everyday lives.
Grace Carter, from Quickline’s Community Events Team, said: “Broadband on the Beach provided a great opportunity to showcase the wide range of communities that can get connected to the Quickline network. Our fast and reliable broadband is available across Filey along with many of the surrounding communities along the Yorkshire coast and it was brilliant to bring some fun to the seafront, hand out prizes and connect with the public to tell them more about what we offer.”
The day was part of Quickline’s ongoing programme of community engagement events across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. As well as rolling out fast, reliable broadband to rural areas, the company is committed to being an active part of the communities it serves.
