Thousands of homes and businesses across South Yorkshire can access fast and reliable broadband, as Quickline continues to rapidly expand its full fibre network across the region.
Two years after being awarded the Project Gigabit contract in April 2024 – the UK Government programme delivering gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach rural communities – Quickline has moved at pace to bring gigabit-capable connectivity to communities that have historically been left behind by poor broadband.
During that time, our network has already reached almost 9,000 funded addresses across areas including Dinnington, Kiveton, Barnby Dunn, Adwick, Conisbrough, Hoyland, Royston and Bramley and also Westwoodside and Crowle in neighbouring North Lincolnshire.
This fast rollout means thousands more residents can now enjoy seamless streaming, smoother home working, and better online access for education and everyday life.
Take-up is already growing as more people make the switch, with around 11% of eligible homes and businesses now connected – and awareness continuing to build as the network expands.
Access fast and reliable broadband as well as so much more
As well as improving connectivity, Quickline is investing in the communities it serves, helping more people build skills, access technology and unlock new opportunities.
To date, this includes:
- Delivering 12 careers events at locations across the South Yorkshire region, with more ongoing
- Donating 95 tablets and Chromebooks to support digital inclusion
- Launching careers initiatives in partnership with the South Yorkshire Careers Hub
- Quickline is also supporting local employment activities, with £20,000 donated so far to Suit Works to help job seekers get back into work. Its partnership with Tech She Can has also delivered technology workshops to 20 schools across South Yorkshire, with more planned.

Carly Mellor, who is leading the network rollout project for Quickline across South Yorkshire, said: “We’re proud to be moving quickly to bring better broadband to South Yorkshire, especially in communities that have been overlooked for too long.
“Reliable connectivity is no longer a luxury – it’s essential for how we live and work. By rolling out our network at pace, we’re making sure more people can get online, stay connected and access the opportunities that come with it.
“At the same time, we’re working closely with local partners to make a lasting difference in the communities we serve – from supporting schools to helping people into employment.”
Quickline will continue to expand its network across South Yorkshire, connecting more homes and businesses to fast, reliable broadband as part of the Government’s Project Gigabit programme.
